Life Painting Competition Cronicles...in Gran Canaria

Nowadays in Spain there are many Life Painting Competition. A great way to keep alive this fantastic way of painting and also a nice excuse to spend some hours on Saturday.

I did take part on one in Gran Canaria during our last visit to our friends Fedra and Gareth.

On this particular competitions there are some basic rules:
The painting has to be done between 10:00h till 13:00h and has to be from life.

As I did win La Caja De Canarias award I'll post how it was the day.

En la última visita que hicimos a Fedra y Gareth a Gran Canaria, tuve la grata sorpresa de toparme con un cartel que anunciaba un concurso de pintura rápida. Modalidad que me encanta.
Aquí las crónicas de lo que pasó...y me llevé un premio muy majo!

Las reglas para este concurso eran simples ( aparte de otras...)

Pintar de 10:00 a 13:00 y pintar del natural.

Gracias una y otra vez a Marvelita, Fedra y Gareth, que aguantaron las tres horas que duró la pintura posando y posandolo bien.

Shampoo commercial concept... Herbal Essences...In my defense I have to say that none of the ideas are mine. It's great that for this things they usually don't have too much time to have more of their ideas. Nice guys though. They pay, so I should shut up.
I'm happy with the final result anyway, so I share it here.

Y como decía, la cursilada esta forma parte del trabajo que hice para un anuncio de Champú. Se me pidió una fuente que escupiera champú dentro de un jardín con setos en forma de pelo, cepillo de pelo y pelo de pelo. Publicidad para idiotas. Bueno, no hay que pasarse, que pagan.
y como quedé contento con el resultado final, lo pongo.

FELIX cat's food

Many of you know those commercials.
Very realistic classic full animation.
Long time ago in my early days in Uk I was doing the animation for some of those commercials. Lovely work to do.
Also I did some art work :Those three panels were a new Art direction that we wanted to give to those commercials, simple and minimalist line work.
Unfortunately ( this word is the most ugly of the words ) the client still as traditional and as classic as the work that they want, so my proposal was rather trendy for them. You know, apparently cat's owner usually live in the 18th century.
I post it before I hate it , as it has....5 years old!
All is done with inks and Xerox, when I didn't have a clue about how to use a computer.

Alguna vez se han visto estos anuncios en Spain.
Hace ya tiempo, en mis primeros años en Londres, trabajé como animador para algunos de estos anuncios.
Además hice algunas cosas aparte de la animación, como estos paneles. Son parte de la dirección artística que proponía para alguna serie de estos anuncios. Un trabajo más más minimalista y lineal.
Pero el cliente resultó ser conservador y tradicional y rechazó la propuesta.
Los hice hace 5 años con tintas y fotocopiadora. Por aquella época no tenía ni pajolera de usar un ordenador ( no tenía siquiera uno propio!)

Class of 3000 Art Direction CARTOON NETWORK

As you can read in Cartoon network Turner pressROOM:
"Class of 3000 enlists the talent of various guest art directors for each episode’s music video segment. Every song created by Andre “3000” Benjamin for the series will be accompanied by a video, animated by some of today’s most highly respected animation directors, each known for their own unique animation style."
Names as: Alan Bodner , Bill Sienkiewicz ( one of my most admired artist ), Kyle Baker and many other artist around the globe.
I've been asked too to do one of these art directions. Here are some panels that I did for them:

tal y como Turner press rOOm nos cuenta:
Class of 3000 ( cartoon network) contiene en cada episodio un vídeo musical. Cada canción creada por Andre "3000" Benjamin , irá acompañada por un vídeo cuya dirección artística se llevará a cabo por algunos de los MAS GRANDEMENTE RESPETADOS Y ADMIRADOS Y ACLAMADOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DIRECTORES DE ANIMACION DEL MUNDO MUNDIAL !!!!! JESUS CHRIST!!!!! aportando su autentico y único estilo. ( esto es increíble, agarrense ) Entre otros : Alan Bodner , Bill Sienkiewicz ( viva este señor y la madre que...), Kyle Baker y YO ( o yo y los otros ) y otros tantos artistas increíbles."

Con algo así mas o menos podemos dar por aprobada la traducción del Turner Press. Quizá un poco mas cálida mi versión.La manera mediterranea de ver las cosas. SI no les importa, me voy a tirar aquí este pedo, que por una vez no pasa nada.

After 2 years trying to publish The Asparagus Seeker ( LE CUEILLEUR D’ASPERGES ) we decided to park it for a while. Although we are working in a new one.

Hola, después de la tira trabajando y sudando intentando publicar "El Buscador De Espárragos", hemos decidido aparcarlo un tiempo.
Estamos trabajando ahora en un nuevo proyecto, porque el caso es no parar, y porque nada puede hundirnos.
Desafortunadisimamente las páginas de hoy están en Francés, pero si te interesa leerlas en el original castellano, escribe un comentario solicitando tu lengua y te las mandaré por email.
